I approach this issue two ways. Usually, the audition committee has the corrected part for the audition. So most times, this will not even be an issue because they've already corrected the music you see. If the part isn't corrected, I'll always ask the audition monitor to ask the committee about the specific part in question. Sometimes, a committee will leave the uncorrected part on the stand just to see who knows the excerpts well enough to catch the mistake. In any event, giving the committe what they want is what wins an audition so you should be able, at least in the audition, to do it either way. But I've never had a conductor ask me to perform the piece the way it is printed.
