I had a band director with am open mind in high school and he let me paint ours.I removed the brass section and sanded and prepped them and my dad and I rented a spray gun and we used automotive primer first and then we painted them G.M. bright red.I thought they came out looking great.Later on after that band director was fired and I had graduated they sousaphones were painted back to white again.
