I already have about every configuration of Eb bass possible and thought I might try building an Eb Cimbasso around a 1925 Holton Eb 3 piston valve section. I would like to end up with something that resembles a rather large valve trombone and plays in that position. I thought about relocating the cluster tubing so it lies perpendicular to the pistons and incorporating a lead pipe that goes directly to the 1st valve so that the valves are out in front and are in a comfortable playing position. Does anyone have any suggestions? Am I correct to assume that as long as all the branches remain the same length as the original Eb tuba, the tuning should work out fairly easily?
