Good points. But there are some complications as you no doubt realize. I'll just mention a couple. First, corps in general are not going to just allow players to come in with their own horns. Conformity is crucial for consistency of sound, tuning, etc. And, the horns are still all front-facing which means that band french horns, baritones, euphoniums, and tubas won't work. So, players are still going to need a second horn and most importantly corps the money for these horns. Second, for players (especially in division I) it's not a matter of switching from Bb during the school year to G in the summer. Actually, G is played through most of the school year too. More accurately, then, the G augments the Bb. So, I'm not quite sure that corps-hesitant band directors are (or should be) worried about switching one horn for the other. But again, nicely explained.
