I think most people would agree that bore size measured at one arbitrary place on a horn will tell you didly about how it plays or sounds. It's just a number taken out of the context of the continuous taper of a horn. Even if it told you something tangible about a specific horn you can't really compare it to other horns because the valve set isn't necesarily in the same place relative to the whole instrument. Can't we be a little bit more sophisticated than this? For once can't we step above the mindless marketing hype?
