Thank you for posting the "Country tuba". I have no idea who it is, but it reminds me of another recording that my father heard on the radio in the early fiftys. He got such a kick out of it that he spent a day in New York city looking for it. Eventually he found it at the radio station, on a 78 rpm disk labelled "for air play only.. not for sale" or something like that. One side was called "Red Canary" and the other was "A Tuba Square Dance", performed by "Arky, the Arkansas Woodchopper". Dad thought for sure it had to be Bill Bell; it certainly had Bell's clean articulation and agility. But when he asked, Mr Bell denied any knowlege of the the recordings. I have often wondered if it was a very young Harvey Phillips, but I never got a chance to ask Harvey. Regrettably, the record is lost. Did anybody else ever hear it?
