Thanks for the heads-up on the Yamaha mpc. I've been A/Bing pieces for recording on my minidisc and the C4 was working well for making the sound more focused and pin-pointing the attacks, but I've always thought they had a nasally tone (live, that is) from almost every horn I used it on including this one (Getzen). Most of my other pieces sound either too bland, muffled, or spread-out for a good clear recorded signal. I like the sound of the CB Jacobs, but I can't play very long on the sharp little rim. The Self model sounds like it may be a good compromise of comfort, tone, and center.
