I was luckey enough to be Chester's first student at The New England Conservatory of Music in 1966. He is a very nice person. His big push is to have the student develop a beautiful sound and to play musically. He often said someone could be the loudest , softest, highest or lowest tuba player in the world but if your sound is not beautiful, who will want to hear it. He always suggested we lesten to great players of other insruments[cello etc.] and great singers. We all played lieder of some kind on our rectials. I hope this has been of som help. David
