When Tom and I did this for the first time we slipped the flange up the bell until it stopped and made a permanant marker marking. Then Tom cut up to the mark and made the circular cut. Then he made a few trimmings until it seated into the flange easily, soldered it up and that was that. It would be virtually impossible to cut it after the flange was soldered on because you would have metal hanging over the edge of the flange. WARNING: This procedure is not for the faint of heart, as I said earlier, if you are so much as an 1/8 of an inch off you have a great planter.Tom was very patient fellow with this, so the job was perfect. I sold the horn to Lee Stofer and I know he may have resold it with bell front that I bought from Joe S. in 1993. Someone may want to contact him to see if he still has the bell. If you have any more questions, feel free to e-mail directly.
