Well, I have to admit that I don't use tennis to pick up chicks. Somehow I'd rather use it to pick up guys...
I do and don't think tennis is good for brass players. It's great for coordination, concentration, and fitness, but the competetive aspect is really against what playing music is all about; music is a cooperative venture, while tennis is not. You're always out to "beat" someone, whether you're playing solo or in a group. I enjoy tennis immensely when it's just me and the bangboard; I don't like it nearly as much when I have to keep score and win or lose. I see playing an instrument as much more like the "me and the bangboard" end of tennis.
And a caveat on marrying a competetive tennis player....people who are totally tied up with a competetive sport sometimes have trouble dropping the competition in other aspects of their lives, and their spouses may get fed up and leave. Just ask my ex-husband.
