everyone is different and i think the main thing is trying to get comfortable while having the bell face forward.from the audience you'll be able to see the big gaping hole in the bell a lot better than where the valves are. you should also consider how the sousa will effect the ability to get a good deep breath. the way people have described as the "wrong" way seems like it would be right up against your stomach so that when you breath the whole horn moves. my director would kill me if he sat there and watched the horn go up and down while i was supposed to be at attention
