Very good horn.. worth every penny. Cheapest new BBb I would ever recommend. Used Kings (2341?) are also quite good and fetch around $2500 give or take depending on condition. If price is your primary consideration these are the only choices I would consider. Everything else is a bit of a crapshoot in this price range.
The VMI is a distinctly german style design.. especially when compared to the King. Both are quite good and would hold to professional standards in many situations. If you were to play both side by side most folks will prefer the ease of play of the king. The VMI has a bit of a german response to it that many people are put off by. I actually like the response, however, and would argue that the VMI has more potential to grow with you and develop a more interesting sound if you put in the time. Tough choice regardless.
Next horn up the price ladder would probably be the MW25 at $3700.
