Sitting down and playing would be more conducive to music making and good techniques. Marching is a spectacle. It has much less to do with music.

As far as actually answering your question, if one must march, then a Sousaphone is the most efficient way to accomplish it.

I have seen videos of British bands using "real" tubas. We don't do that here in the states though.
