Of course you can use the idea. I lucked out when constructing mine. The bore of the euphonium and the bass trombone were the exact size, and the size of the tubing at the ferrule on the trombonium matched that of the bass trombone valve tubing. Actually an altonium bell would've worked better then the trombonium bell, as the altonium bell won't go as high and will look more authentic. Have you ever heard of/seen Jim Self's double belled tuba. He had a picture of it once on his webpage (may still be there). The small bell detaches from his Yamaha F tuba.
