Hello All-
I am a euphonium player in my high school band who plans to continue playing euphonium at the college level.
My father owns a Besson Euphonium that is in excellent condition, yet i cannot get used to the placement of the fourth valve. On the other hand, I love the rich, dark sound it produces.
I own a Yamaha Euphonium which is also in excellent condition, but I cannot produce as rich a sound as I would like. On the other hand, the placement of the fourth valve is better.
I have asked my band director, my instructor, and M. Dee Stewart, the head Euphonium Professor at the Indiana University School of Music (where I hope to go) which horn would be better. They all tell me that whichever horn I like the best would work out fine.
Any input that you can offer is greatly appreciated!
