Here is a 50 cent solution. There have been several threads on the heavy mouthpiece issue over the years. I think the general consensus is that the important issue is damping vibration rather than simply adding mass. Go to your local harware store. Find the fasteners section and look for the drawer marked "Rubber Grommets". The ones with
1 3/16" inside diameters fit just behind the rim of most tuba mouthpieces and have an effect similar to adding more metal to the mouthpiece body. I'm sure you could find a size that fits snugly on the shank. You may still want to buy a soup can mouthpiece or visit a machinist but this will at lwast let you know if further investigation is warranted in your case.
