Dave is a great teacher and a really nice guy. I played a gig with him last December and had a great time. The thesis I just wrote has to deal with auditioning for college and the preparation to be a tuba major. The Air and Bouree is considered by many to be a good piece to audition with. Other pieces include Haddad's Suite for Tuba or one of the Marcello Sonatas transcribed by Don Little. The main thing to be certain of is to choose a piece that you sound the best on and shows your strenghths. You still have a number of months so you can fix all of the intricate parts of the pieces that you work up. Also etudes out of the Blazevich, Kopprasch or Bordogni books would be good to prepare for the audition.
