The true artifacts of the developments of brass instruments might have a tendency to stay with their owners as long as possible. Raincatchers, none the least in their 4 piston incarnations, would be such samples.

I have seen one raincatcher on a net auction through the last 2 years. That is about 1 in 800 (or even 1200) compared to more standard sousas.

Raincatchers have their bells unmounted below the knee. Allowing for adjustments to their bell verticallity depending on the posture of the actual player.

Front bell sousaphones have fixed knees.

If you can live with the lack of adjustability of the vertical direction, it should not be that difficult to convert your Martin sousa to a dual purpose rain- or windcatcher.

You will need an upright bell of some dimension. Maybe to be butchered off a York Monster Eb tuba. They are told to be in plentiful supply, when it comes to wrecks.

You will furthermore need a male bell collar. It could prove itself much more difficult to find a such one from an otherwise wrecked Martin sousa. But the industrial strength turning lathe has not gone uninvented, and you have the perfect model sitting on your present bell. Everything regarding mounting screws is to be considered minor technicalities.
