The farmer did have 2 daughters. The business man told us this when he was on the road.....

The king 2341's have a .689 bore at the 2nd valve.

To put this in farmer terms, some tubas have a bore size that is the same throughout the valve cluster, and some valve clusters get larger as they progress from 1 to 4 or 5.

As for the playing differences, you would have to hear some serious comments from the experts. To synopsize; some like the more open feel of a larger 4th and 5th valve. At some point, the increase in size diminishes the tuning capablilty and cenering of the sound.

As more people open up on this thread, you will see that some will swear by a graduated increase in bore size, and others will go with a uniform bore size.

Some will talk about farmer's daughters. Better that than the general's daughter.
