If your college has some pretty decent BBb's or CC horns and you plan on having the money to buy another horn in a few years then I say buy the F. The reason is that many colleges seem to have a few quality CCs or BBb's around but not too many F's. The F seems to be standard on the new literature. Everything is written so high that you need an F. And please I don't want to hear that playing a note is the same on any tuba. Having an F right off the bat in college would allow you to hit some of the standard solo lit. But then again it also depends on your level. If you are ready to take on the world of tuba excerpts then F away my friend...
