The 48 studies for horn by Verne Reynolds (transcribed for tuba by Cherry Beauregard) offer INTERVAL studies - in order of interval (starting with half steps, then whole steps, then minor thirds, etc.) - two studies for each interval comprising the first half of the book.

These studies are very awkward and unpredictable, though they certainly each predictably concentrate on one certain interval.

As one encounters intervals in unusual orders and combinations in these etudes, I would think that anyone who successfully makes it through this very demanding book with proficiency would also be able to read and interpret music in dorian, mixolydian, phrygian, locrian, etc.
