I must say I am very dissppointed in your question. When I read the post I was thinking
"Perantoni vs. Bobo in DeathMatch IV". That would have been something to see! Anyway,
I actually enjoy listening to both recordings and studying the diffence in sound, interpretation, style, etc. I was particularly intrigued by the difference in "sound" and "resonance" of the piano on the Anthony Plog. The Perantoni recording seems so much bigger or fuller. It really caught my attention. All the notes are there on each piece and yet they are so very different. My own preference is the Perantoni and that in no way is a reflection on the way Roger plays. I am in awe of his playing as well. I just prefer the overall quality of Dan's playing on the pieces in question.

Both are excellent!

As for other recordings, I like Phil Sinder's CD "Aerodynamics" very much. I think it is one of the better all around CD's out there and his playing is fantastic. My other favorite tuba CD's are:

Gene Pokorny "Tuba Tracks"
David Randolph "Contrasts in Contemporary Music"
Michael Lind "The Virtuoso Tuba"
Michael Lind "Play Tuba"
John Griffiths "Canadian Chops"
John Fletcher "The Best of Fletch"
anything else that Fletch is on
Sam Pilafian - the travellin' light stuff
as well as the new "Dos Amigos" with Patrick
Sheridan.

Enjoy!
