I just returned the Willson EEb to Barry. I really like this tuba! It has a very BIG sound and an awesome low register.(using a Curry Precision 126D mouthpiece) I didn't have any problems in any range. Intonation is good. I don't know if the leadpipe has been altered. It is placed in a somewhat upward sweeping direction. It feels fine if I hold the tuba with the bottom bow on my legs (the balance is good) but I can't reach the mouthpiece when the tuba is resting on the chair. (I'm 5'8")The construction is top quality but this tuba is not at all lightweight! If I had not just purchased a new tuba recently I would own this one. I played a Besson 981 for 15 years and have to say that I like this Willson more. I feel that this instrument would provide a good sound in many playing environments. Besson 983????

My opinion for what is'd worth.
