Keep in mind that I'm only a college tuba player having played bass trombone in a high school jazz ensemble.....
That being said, I had very good luck on a bach 1-1/4 G mouthpiece. The size seems to be very good for a doubler on tuba. It helps maintain the before mentioned focused trombone sound, while allowing for an awesome low range..... Just watch the audience cower before you when you let go on the pedal Bb, and it seems to still be awesome below. I have also tried a tuba mouthpiece on bass bone, with the same success as yourself: just not enough of that bass bone punch!
