I was formerly a member of AFM, my full-time job is a band director. But I played in the summers in a group that was run by the local. That group was my main reason for being in the union. There was an ugly situation that arose between me and one of my section members and he managed to keep from being a part of the group the next summer. After that, I discovered I had been kicked out of the AFM. I decided that was enough for me and I became a right to work believer. I still freelance quite a bit, I make more money in gigs than I did before. (Now that I can take these gigs). And I don't have to deal with any back stabbing.
