For most work I love My hb-21... but, for a Dixie gig coming up, I really will enjoy using my BBb 6/4 York. I'd rather play that style on BBb and the bass the 6/4 gives in that setting is like no other. I love working on French tuba stuff and the 621 F is perfect. If I ever play in a quintet again I would use my 186. I do wish I just had one set of intonations to master or "one horn". I really do enjoy having all the different sounds to work with. You could play the 4th bone part in a big band on tuba, but it is much better if you get a bass bone. So, what you need is at least 5 tubas "all keys" a tenor and bass t-bone, electric bass/upright bass, and whatever else it takes to fill up at least one room. The last time I remember thinking "one horn" was when I was in college and I had "one horn".
