Well I think I figured out how to put the photos on, so here goes - I am a bit computer challanged.




Notice that the short action valves valve stems are not centered. They are off to one side, and the whole valve cap does not turn when you open the valve to oil it. The rim does, but the center section has to remain stationary because of the offset stems. And there is a small guide stem inside, at the rear of each valve that centers the valve once it is seated in the valve cylinder. The ridges on the valve caps also look different than on most other horns, other Conns included.

There is also a 22J series with short action valves - front action valve - which means the horn is a mirror image with the bell on the players right hand side.

The 3xJ Lew mentioned is the same as the 20J except it has regular valves. I don’t know if they ever made a front action (22 series) with 4 valves??
