But here's related question that I've wondered:

Have any noteworthy one-horn auditionees used multiple mouthpieces in their audition to good effect? While it ain't the same as a horn change, it is a way of changing colors.

As AJ points out, significant tonal concepts/weights are possible via different mouthpieces (in conjunction with an appropriate sound concept for each change desired) Jacobs changed mouthpieces all the time. Yes, he owned lots of horns, but even more mouthpieces. 'Sure beats lugging around two horns IF one can get the job done on one.

Any regular mpc changers out there ??
