I would make one additional investment on your son's behalf, though. I'd hire a local professional teacher to give him a few lessons. I had to teach myself how to make sounds, based on what I read in those old-fashioned beginner books like Rubank and Bell. Those books cannot do a critical thing: They cannot see what your son is doing and gently prod him into the correct form so that his learning builds on a durable foundation. Well over 30 years have passed since I muddled through those method books, and I'm still trying to unlearn bad habits I picked up then.
