I recall someone recently asking about mouthpiece recommendations for the VMI Mel Culbertson 6/4 CC tuba. I recently tried a few different mouthpieces on the rotary valve version.

The mouthpiece that seemed to work best (so far) is the Dillon M1C. Huge sound with this mouthpiece, with good core and pitch definition. It seems to really even out the response on this tuba.

Next choice would be the Parke-Ofenloch. Not quite as big a sound as the M1C (on this tuba), but better center and evenness than other mouthpieces I've tried.

The next mouthpiece isn't really a choice (for me) on this tuba. It's my regular mouthpiece, a Laskey 30G. It works great on my usual equipment, but just doensn't seem like a match with the Culbertson tuba.

Anyway, just my own observations and opinions, ymmv.
