The tough part to make is the taper (both the inside and the outside). DEG used to market a mouthpiece called an 'Astro Cup'. The shank was metal and screwed into the cup which was made of Nylon. I've experimented with different cups using the shank from the DEG with some success but haven't really devoted very much time to it. I don't think DEG markets it any longer but I've seen the 'Astro Cup' in other catalogs.
