Yes, Johan Halvorsen. I would not say that he has "jumped over the pond." I have a sort of musicology fetish (I suppose) and am a but of a slavophile and nordophile, and that is how I became acquainted with him. I think the only piece of his that is "well known" in the U.S. is Entrance of the Boyars, which is a great little processional. Although for those that want true inspiration try to find a recording of Bergensiana or Pasacaglia on a theme of Handel. These are great pieces to listen to.
