From my own experience lung size is not the issue on size of tuba, but the type of sound you naturally make. My lungs are very large, a 6/4 tuba isn't a problem , except it can get very foggy for me. I use a 4/4 CC! I think that if you can make the quality needed then the quantity doesn't matter. Arnold Jacobs was the prime example.
