If you like the big VMI's, give Matt Walters a call about the used one he has for sale. It usd to be mine, but I traded it for a smaller, more practical for me, tuba (MW32). The intonation was very manageable for me and the sound was to die for. It is priced at about the same as the "new" VMI's but I think a lot of the horns left are leftovers. However, try out at least 3-4 of these before you settle on one. It seems like to me, the bigger the tuba the bigger the inconsistency between specimens of the same model.
