Well, I've been playing on a rotary 6/4 VMI for about 2.5 years now. It has worked pretty well for me so far. Its fine in band and orchestra. The quintet I played in didn't seem to mind too much either. Its not an ideal solo horn. You really have to exagerate your attacks to get a clear sound. The low register is funky at first too, but I have noticed that with most 6/4 horns. Intonation on my horn is terrible. If there is an alternate fingering to use for a pitch, I'm probably using it :) Thats all I can think of saying for the moment.
