I've owned the Meinl Weston for four years. I haven't had problems with intonation
that I couldn't easily overcome. I did have problems with the valves sticking before they were broke in, but no more. As for valve noise, I'd say the besson has slightly better valves, but the difference was not sufficent for me to pay the extra money. The sound is a little darker than some are used to hearing. I love the sound, it carries very well in band and it is not too dark for solos. Yes, I'm a tuba doubler, but I'm not a shabby player, and I've never thought about getting a different horn - this instrumet works for me.

I think you should try both horns yourself, with as few preconceptions as possible and pick what sounds best for you. If you try horns expecting that you have to pay x amount or by x brand to get a good instrument, you will probably prove yourself right.
