I think this product is not designed for use by amateurs. Whether or not it is marketed that way I do not know. However, people have spoken about the cost of the Eraser being the same as a good repair or to. But what if you are a school district who has eight or nine instruments (Tubas, Sousaphones, Euphoniums, Trombones) that have minor dents? In this case you could indeed make the purchase "worth it".
In my opinion it is a tool that ONLY repairman should use, or others who have been properly trained. However, there is no doubt that it works. I was sold when Akins took the dents out of two or three tubas at Merry Tuba Christmas in Columbus.
