Double exposure is a photographic technique while pasting a piece of a photo over another piece of a photo in a computer is not? It seems to me that these are both tools; on no more or less authentic than the other. Who said that doing a double exposure in Photoshop isn't a photographic technique? But that's why I asked.

But if you want a sharp foreground and a sharp background, and the telephone lines are in between, then no manipulation of depth of field will make them soft.

And I wish you'd show me the vantage point that would let me take a picture of the famous backside of the church at Ranchos de Taos in New Mexico without power lines. I drug my 4x5 camera all over that area but was utterly frustrated. But it depends on your artistic vision as to whether this is acceptable or not, and that's why I asked.
