Quite possibly the biggest problem I ever saw with this thing was the lack of 7th position. That would be like playing a tuba with two first valves a second and no others with an extremely out of tune three valve set for the left hand.

I can't think of an equal from the tuba world that has been mass produced. Mr. Bobo has some quite interesting instruments as does Mr. Self. However, these are seen as super specialized and are not being produced for the masses.

IMO, this is the trombone for the trumpet player who wants to be a "virtuoso" like Mr. Ferguson and play the 'bone for one tune and do bad glisses and sloppy runs or the geeky trombone players who want to be cool like their Maynard worshiping buddies.

FWIW, in regards to Mr. Nowicke, I think the closest thing to a Bass Superbone is something like Mr. Self's Larry Minnick made horn. Of course it probably has a 7th position!
