The CB-52 was a different model than the CB-50. The CB-52 looked more like a VMI piston tuba (33--) than the CB-50. Finding a CB-52 is next to impossible...the only one I've ever seen was listed on ebay by someone is New Mexico.
As far as playing the CB-50 as a BBb...don't. It just doesn't work very well. It is very stuffy since the horn wasn't designed to be played that way on a regular basis. By the way, the "conversion" to BBb is nothing special. I don't know why it couldn't be done on any other tuba with a flat whole step 5th valve unless there wasn't a way to flip the rotor around.
