Herbert Jenkel was indeed with the NBC Symphony and later moved to the LA Philharmonic. He was also the dedicatee of Tubby The Tuba and did the first recording in the 1940's for Columbia Records and this recording was later released on LP. It is conducted by Leon Barzan and has Victor Jory narrating. Along with Tubby, there is Basil Rathbone narrating Peter and the World and Paul Trip narrating Pan The Piper. Tripp also wrote the narration for Tubby. As for Victory at Sea, it was actually Harvey Phillips who did the RCA Recordings with RR Bennett and these were eventually released on three LP sets that have now been released on two CDs. There are several other editions of Victory at Sea and these appeared on different labels with different orchestras. I believe there was a fairly good chunk of stuff done on the old Somerset label but I don't know who the tuba player(s) were on those recordings.
