The Marantz CDR300( Philips professional ) and the Superscope PSD300 ( I think the same company )are both cd recorders that have a bunch of added features as well as the ability to record live from a microphone directly onto CD-R/RW. I would get one but they are expensive ( about the same as DAT ) and I am getting ready for some other things now that cost money.
I think it would be kick-ass to have one, as they combine the best of both DAT and Minidisc.
The Marantz CDR300 is about $700 and the Superscope is about $1000 ( it has more features than the Marantz ).
I believe Chuck from England brought this up before a few months ago.

In fact, the Superscope can be bought from the WW&BW in the recording section.

Do a search online about both of them and you will get more detail on them.
