I've used both the normal Conn Helleberg and the Bach 24AW. I can play louder with the 24AW, but unless I really concentrate, I can't control my embochure at all. The Helleberg works well volume-wise on cocnert horns, but it has never "put out" on any sousaphone I've tried. But the security of hitting the notes and knowing I'm in a large section when marching mean I use the helleberg for everything.
As others have said, your mileage may vary.
