What you're doing sounds great : )
Make sure you're shifting air through those rapid notes. This will help them speak clearly and ensure every note has its place. Also really push yourself in developing dynamic contrast. Contrasts make music far more enjoyable to play and also to listen to of course!

PS. Careful how you go about using a Metronome. They are a handy tool in getting used to knowing tempi straight-off and, used sparingly, help develop rhythmic discipline as they are so unforgiving : ) Don't get so as you rely on it though - use it to develop your own internal sense of pulse!
