Go for it! (What have you got to lose?) The Weril is an ideal candidate for this project because of its small bell. The small Yamaha cases are mostly styrofoam. Just be careful when you carve the blocks to avoid letting the small tubing take much pressure. You'll have to line it with some kind of fabric or the tuba will squeak when rubbing against the foam. When you get it together post some pictures and let us know how it works out.
