Irritation and eventual damage to skin and muscle tissue is a possibility. I've had severe irritation on my lips from my "favorite" mouthpiece. I didn't realize what the problem was until I tried another mouthpiece. I have even had a friend that had a small hole in his lower lip due to continual contact with a mouthpiece with wornout goldplating. I would suggest not risking your embouchure for the feel of a raw brass mouthpiece. Brandon, you are a fine euphonium player and can play just fine on any equipment of your choosing. The raw brass may feel good now, but in the future it may not feel so pleasant.
