Accoustics that affect playing

I just started at college and right away have noticed that while practicing in practice rooms, there are certain notes that are dead. They vary from room to room, but I have yet to find a room that I'm happy with...I've played around with angles and positioning in the room, and still haven't found a solution. No matter how hard I try, I cannot avoid chipping the dead notes and of course, am unhappy with their sound, even if it isn't my playing. However, I have noticed that my accuracy is much better when I play in a room that is good accoustically. Is there anything I should do, or will the room help me to develop further? Thanks!
