When the University of Michigan did the Bartok Concerto last year, the Bass Trombone player used a Contrabass Trombone for the gliss in the fourth mvt. Maybe this horn was just strange, but it was pitched in F. There wasn't a double slide, just one really long one. (There was a handle so the player could reach 7th position.) I have seen the double slide thing, but U of M doesn't have one.

Also, we just did a Verdi Opera. I got to play Cimbasso, and Sean is right, the Army could use it in combat! :)
