I feel the need to interject here.. It is my understanding that Arnold Jacobs made use of false tones on his monster york on a regular basis. The false tone may not sound as good to our ears but when he played both with a decibal meter the false tone was actually louder so he used that in performances where there was a need for loud and low playing. I believe I read about this in Song and Wind.
