Jim Akins never had any trouble making his presence felt when he
played his 822 with the Columbus (OH) Symphony- and this in the
cavernous Ohio Theater. He was particularly awesome with it in
"Petrouchka" a couple years ago. He used a number of different
mouthpieces with it, ranging from a bored-out PT-88 to a PT-64 and
could get just about any imaginable sound out of it.

I've played this horn a number of times and always thought it was
a fabulous instrument. My only complaint was I kept inadvertantly
opening the spit valve with my knee!
